The New York Times, September 21, 2011: KICUCULA, Uganda — According to the company’s proposal to join a United Nations clean-air program, the settlers living in this area left in a “peaceful” and “voluntary” manner. People here remember it quite differently. “I heard people being beaten, so I ran outside,” said Emmanuel Cyicyima, 33. “The houses were being burnt down.” Other villagers described gun-toting soldiers and an 8-year-old child burning to death when his home was set ablaze by security officers. “They said if we hesitated they would shoot us,” said William Bakeshisha, adding that he hid in his coffee plantation, watching his house burn down. [...] ...the government and the company said the settlers were illegal and evicted for a good cause: to protect the environment and help fight global warming. The case twists around an emerging multibillion-dollar market trading carbon-credits under the Kyoto Protocol, which contains mechanisms for outsourcing environmental protection to developing nations - In Scramble for Land, Group Says, Company Pushed Ugandans Out

Se masseslagsmålet i FN-bygningen

Det hele startet inne i FN-bygningen i New York fredag.

VGTV: Se masseslagsmålet i FN-bygningen her

Uenigheter

Reuters, October 5, 2011: Thousands of Gaza teachers quit classes Wednesday to protest at a U.N. refugee agency's suspension of a Palestinian staffer, raising tension between UNRWA and Gaza's Islamist Hamas rulers. [...] The Local Staff Union, a pro-Hamas body, called for a general strike Wednesday, the second such action in a week, to protest at UNRWA's suspension of the head of the union, Suhail Al-Hindi. Hamas sources said the U.N. agency had accused Hindi of meeting with Hamas political officials. Buses took some 7,000 teachers employed at UNRWA-run schools to U.N. headquarters in Gaza city where they held a sit-in, calling for an end to "UNRWA political punishment of employees." "Death rather than humiliation" read a banner held by striking teachers - Teachers protest at U.N. agency in Hamas-run Gaza

Fox News, December 12, 2011: At least two major United Nations development agencies, described as having accumulated some $3.2 billion in cash in 2009, refused to divulge exactly what they spent their program money on, according to a confidential draft report prepared in the summer for the government of Norway and examined by Fox News. According to the consultants who prepared the two-volume draft study on behalf of the Norwegian development agency known as NORAD, the refusal meant that the agencies, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNICEF, failed “grossly” to live up to the “credo of adherence to transparency” that both agencies claim to follow in their work. A third agency, the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, was not cited for “gross” failure, but also refused to provide spending details, “particularly recent staff costs” - U.N. The Jerusalem Post, December 22, 2011: The Simon Wiesenthal Center asked UNESCO’s director-general Wednesday to suspend its sponsorship of a Palestinian children’s magazine, saying the magazine applauded Hitler for murdering Jews. According to Palestinian Media Watch, the educational children’s magazine, Zayafuna, “includes terms glorifying jihad.” The PMW report references an essay in the magazine by a teenage Palestinian girl. The girl wrote about meeting Adolf Hitler in a dream, who tells her that he killed the Jews “so you would all know that they are a nation who spreads destruction all over the world.” In the essay, Hitler tells the child to be patient regarding the suffering of the Palestinians at the hands of the Jews - 'UNESCO funds Palestinian magazine glorifying Hitler'

PricedInGold.com: The UN Food and Agriculture Office tracks prices of food around the world, converts local prices to US Dollars, and calculates an index with 100 being the average for 2002-2004. Prices for meats, cereals, oils/fats, dairy and sugar make up the components of the index, which is updated monthly. Of course all the currencies used to quote these prices are being depreciated by their governments, just as the US dollar is. And as this depreciation accelerates, so do the apparent "rises" in the cost of food. But is food really getting more expensive? Of course not! - FAO Food Price Index in gold from January 1990 to present

Capitalism Magazine, August 30, 2002: Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men's protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Fox News, February 9, 2012: At a closed-door retreat in a Long Island mansion late last October, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and his topmost aides brainstormed about how the global organization could benefit from a "unique opportunity" to reshape the world, starting with the Rio + 20 Summit on Sustainable Development, which takes place in Brazil in June. A copy of the confidential minutes of the meeting was obtained by Fox News. According to that document, the 29-member group, known as the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB), discussed bold ambitions that stretch for years beyond the Rio conclave to consolidate a radical new global green economy, promote a spectrum of sweeping new social policies and build an even more important role for U.N. institutions “to manage the process of globalization better.” At the same time, the gathering acknowledged that their ambitions were on extremely shaky ground, starting with the fact that, as Ban’s chief organizer for the Rio gathering put it, “there was still no agreement on the definition of the green economy, the main theme of the [Rio] conference.” But according to the minutes, that did not seem to restrain the group’s ambitions - EXCLUSIVE: UN chief, aides plot 'green economy' agenda at upcoming summit

CNS News, November 9, 2012: The United Nations General Assembly on Thursday elected Sudan – whose president is accused of war crimes -- onto an influential body whose powers include choosing members for agencies dealing with women and children, and accrediting civil society groups wanting to participate in sessions of the U.N. Human Rights Council. The Islamist regime in Khartoum received more votes than the United States did in the election for 18 new members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the U.N. organ that coordinates socio-economic and related affairs. Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir has been wanted by the International Criminal Court since early 2009 on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, arising from the conflict in Darfur.
