Patrick Moore (medgrunnlegger av Greenpeace):

The Vancouver Sun, January 7, 2011: The collapse of world communism and the fall of the Berlin Wall during the 1980s added to the trend toward extremism. The Cold War was over and the peace movement was largely disbanded. The peace movement had been mainly Western-based and anti-American in its leanings. Many of its members moved into the environmental movement, bringing with them their neo-Marxist, far-left agendas. To a considerable extent the environmental movement was hijacked by political and social activists who learned to use green language to cloak agendas that had more to do with anti-capitalism and anti-globalization than with science or ecology. I remember visiting our Toronto office in 1985 and being surprised at how many of the new recruits were sporting army fatigues and red berets in support of the Sandinistas. I don't blame them for seizing the opportunity. There was a lot of power in our movement and they saw how it could be turned to serve their agendas of revolutionary change and class struggle. To this day they use the word industry as if it were a swear word. The same goes for multinational, chemical, genetic, corporate, globalization, and a host of other perfectly useful terms. Their propaganda campaign is aimed at promoting an ideology that I believe would be extremely damaging to both civilization and the environment - Confessions of a Greenpeace founder

Reason Magazine, April 20, 2011: For this year's Earth Day celebration, Reason.tv is proud to present "The Top Five Environmental Disasters that Didn't Happen." The environmental movement began in 1962 when Rachel Carson published her best-selling book Silent Spring. And ever since, chicken littles have warned us about imminent environmental disasters that ultimately didn't happen - The Top Five Environmental Disasters that Didn't Happen

Reuters, July 3, 2011: More than 180 police and protesters were injured on Sunday during demonstrations against a high-speed railway tunnel linking Italy to France. About 6,000 people joined initially peaceful marches in the Val di Susa area, near Turin, police said, protesting against a tunnel they say will damage the environment and spoil the picturesque Alpine valley. But scuffles broke out at several points along the boundaries of the construction site. Protesters threw stones and firecrackers and police responded with tear gas. At least 188 police officers were injured in the clashes, while several protesters and a site worker were also hurt - Hundreds injured in Italy rail protests

The Local, July 10, 2011: The Animal Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for Friday's fire attack at a hamburger restaurant in Gothenburg, according to local media reports. In a posting on the animal rights activists website Bite Back Magazine, those allegedly responsible described how they smashed two windows with hammers at the burger restaurant at the Scandinavium Center, poured ten liters of petrol in and set it alight. The posting continued, “We were in a hurry as the sun had risen and it was light outside, so we threw the containers with written ALF-messages on them and some lighted matches into the restaurant and it went up in a big fire instantly. The Local, July 22, 2011: Switzerland's top criminal court on Friday sentenced three green activists to more than three years in jail each for a foiled bomb attack on an IBM research centre near Zurich. The sentence against 26-year-old Swiss activist Luca Christos Bernasconi and Italians Constantino Alfonso Ragusa, 34 and Silvia Ragusa Guerini, 29, is higher than what the prosecutor had sought. A Bellinzona-based court found the three guilty "of plotting a criminal act of arson ... (and) the concealment and assembly of explosives," said the ruling - Eco-activists found guilty of planning IBM attack

Science or Religion: Environmental Doomsday Theories

Innlegg Panther 28 Jul 2011, 16:57

http://www.capitalismmagazine.com/law/6506-science-or-religion-environmental-doomsday-theories.html

28 July 2011 Dale B. Halling

A fundamental difference between religion and science is that a scientific theory is testable, while a religion is not. Religion ignores facts and believes in faith. All environmental doomsday theories are religions, not science. This is true no matter how much they disguise their religion with scientific jargon or call what they are doing a science.

Before I examine some of these environmental doomsday theories, let’s look at another pseudo science. Creationists say creationism is a science and they attempt to include scientific jargon, including their attempt to show probabilistically human life is impossible. One version of this idea is that given the number of base pairs in the human genome and that even if one of them were wrong humans would not exist, it is therefore impossible that their was not a Divine hand. Of course, it turned out that much of the genetic material is irrelevant and that there are redundancies in the encoding of the human genome. Did the Creationist admit defeat? No, because it’s a religion not a science. The same is true of Global Warming (Climate Change), Global Cooling, Malthus, Club of Rome Limits of Growth, Population Bomb, Nuclear Winter, etc. None of these hypothesis are testable. The proponents cannot name a single test that would prove their hypothesis incorrect.

Huffington Post, August 10, 2011: A radical group that opposes nanotechnology has claimed responsibility for at least two bombing attacks on researchers in Mexico and it praises the "Unabomber," whose mail-bombs killed three people and injured 23 in the United States. A manifesto posted Tuesday on a radical website mentions at least five other Mexican researchers whose work it opposes, and lauded Theodore Kaczynski, who is serving a life sentence for bombs that targeted university professors and airline executives. It was issued in the name of a group whose title could be translated as "Individuals Tending Toward the Savage." Environmentalism and Psychology: A Marriage Made in Hell

Innlegg Panther 05 Okt 2011, 12:55

http://www.capitalismmagazine.com/science/environment/6610-environmentalism-and-psychology-a-marriage-made-in-hell.html

4 October 2011 Michael Hurd

The great majority of psychologists, psychotherapists and the like, whether or not they’re concerned with “social responsibility,” are not experts on meteorology, geology or science. But, in a way, that makes sense, because environmentalism is not based on science either. It’s based on politics.

People who disagree with my political perspective sometimes tell me, “You shouldn’t comment on social or political matters. That’s not appropriate for a mental health professional.” The people who say this are always liberals, and never non-liberals, i.e. never libertarians, Objectivists, conservatives or anything like that. (Proving my point, once again, that most liberals simply cannot stand dissension.)

You can better believe these same people never question or criticize the comments and official positions of organizations like “Psychologists for Social Responsibility.”

Surprise, surprise: This organization has come out for legislation to limit or eliminate the activities of industrialized civilization for the sake of “the environment.”

NoTricksZone, January 14, 2012: Some of us may have had suspicions in the past. Now it’s confirmed – some parts of the green/climate movement are so radical that they are now attracting neo-Nazis and extremists. The online German leftist paper TAZ has come out with an article that describes a disturbing phenomena, namely: the green movement is being infiltrated by these psychos. The TAZ piece is titled: Nazis against coal - Red TAZ Reports: Browns Infiltrating Green Movement In Germany

Deutsche Welle, March 8, 2012: They're into organic farming, oppose GMOs and worry about endangered species. Experts say neo-Nazis are increasingly cashing in on themes of the environmental movement to attract new supporters. "Environmental protection should be inherent to cultural progress." That's a statement that could easily be attributed to any environmentalist group. Instead it comes from the National Democratic Party (NPD), a far-right but still legal German party, and it's another sign of how right-wing groups are increasingly latching on to environmental topics - Neo-Nazis cloak themselves in eco-rhetoric
